For fans of Persepolis; An incredible true story in graphic novel form, that lays bare the tortured and triumphant history of Taiwan, an island claimed and fought over by many countries, through the life story of a man who lived through its most turbulent times. Tsai Kun-lin, an ordinary boy was born in Qingshui, Taichung in 1930s Taiwan. In part 1 Tsai, in concert with the beautiful illustrations of Chou Jian-xin, depicts a carefree childhood despite the Japanese occupation: growing up happily with the company of nursery rhymes and picture books on Qingshui Street. As war emerges Tsai's memories shift to military parades, air raids, and watching others face conscription into the army. It seems no one can escape. After the war, the book-loving teenager tries hard to learn Mandarin and believes he is finally stepping towards a comfortable future, but little does he know, a dark cloud awaits him ahead. Part 2 opens with Illustrations reminiscent of woodcuts showing the soul-crushing experience of Tsai's detention and imprisonment. In his second year at Taichung First Senior High School, Tsai attends a book club hosted by his teacher and is consequently arrested on a false charge of taking part in an "illegal" assembly. After being tortured, he is sentenced to ten years in prison, deprived of civil rights for seven years, and sent to Green Island for "reformation". Lasting until his release in September 1960, Tsai, a victim of the White Terror era spent ten years of his youth in prison on an unjust charge. But he is ready to embrace freedom.

The astonishing story of martial arts legend Bruce Lee . . . told in spectacular graphic form. Bruce Lee was born on November 27, 1940 - in both the hour and the year of the dragon. Almost immediately, he was plunged into conflict: as a child in Hong Kong as it was invaded and occupied by the Japanese; as the object of discrimination and bullying; and as a teenager grappling against the influence of gangs. As the world knows, Lee found his salvation and calling through kung fu - first as a student, then as a teacher, and finally as a global star. The Boy Who Became a Dragon tells his story in brilliant comic form.

Joss Whedon's Buffy and crew are confronted by a future Big Bad who has travelled to the present, intent on stealing the power of the Slayers, becoming all-powerful, and destroying the world as we know it! The lives of Buffy and the Scoobies haven't been too eventful for a while--at least as far as fighting demons and the forces of darkness are concerned. But that all changes when Angel brings news of an amassing a force that must be reckoned with: Wolfram & Hart, a legion of demons, and Harth, vampire from the future. Buffy knows Harth and his twin sister--the Slayer, Fray--from her meeting with them and Dark Willow in the future. But this army that has been gathered is more than she and her crew were expecting . . . Narrowly escaping an initial encounter, the gang travels to the future to recruit Fray and learn of their dismal fate should they fail to defeat this legion that has invaded the present. Harth is after the power of the Slayers, and being in possession of all their memories, he knows how to rewrite the outcome of this ultimate battle before it occurs. This is the reckoning . . . and it could be the end of Buffy, Fray, and all the Slayers, forever. Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Christos Gage (Angel & Faith, Buffy, Amazing Spider-Man), alongside artist Georges Jeanty (Serenity, Buffy), bring a battle-fueled Buffy saga for the ages!

The human rights abuses of the Myanmar republic are brought to horrifying life in this tale of hardship and perseverance in the face of impossible conditions. The peaceful jungles of Burma are ripped apart as the People Power Uprising of 1988 incites the brutal military rulers of Myanmar to crush a burgeoning revolution. Among millions of displaced natives are Thazama, Moonpi and Kim, members of the Zomi tribe, forced to flee slavery and torture, who soon learn that everywhere they turn, they are trapped between worlds and hostages in their own country. With captivating imagery and heart-wrenching clarity, Burmese Moons tells a tragic story of oppressive human rights violations in what was formerly the longest-running military dictatorship in the world -- and illustrates the brutal toll exacted upon the men, women and children of the region.
